Traveling Cardio
In Dallas for a conference.
Staying at the Omni Dallas and went to their fitness center for whatever sort of brief cardio I could manage. I ended up doing 30 minutes on the stationary bike, keeping my heart rate at 75%. To be honest, this never feels like a hard thing, but today was not really about hard things. I just wanted to get up, get moving, and work the knots out after a day of travel and eating.
I have purposefully increased carbohydrates and fats the last two weeks after looking at material on eattoperform.com. My usual has been to keep protein and carbs roughly equal at 125-150 grams, and fats kept to 50-55 grams. That’s low according to the eattoperform.com folks, who would have my carbs up over 200 grams and my fat closer to 100 grams. I’m inching them up, but not to those levels, and want to see if my energy and recovery changes. Because I like a glass or two of wine, I always sacrifice those calories, which could be put to more useful purposes if I really wanted to. But since I’m pretty much maintenance with 2100-2200 calories, I’ll adjust things around and if I put on a pound or two, so be it. I’ve been waking at 161 some this past week, and weighing at 163 to start the day, which is right on my weight class max.
All that to say that yesterday, I topped out around 2700 calories for the day, including 210 grams of carbs. The thing to note is that, for me, it took four meals, two of them unusually high in carbohydrates, to get there.
